Hello, I want to instal rom on my MINI M8S tv box from freaktab, but when I am trying to install it I have errors: -Size of image is larger than target device when I install soft as.img -Could not find 'META-INF/com/google/android/update-binary' in the zip when I install soft as.zip I try to install rom in TWRP from my micro sd card. I hope you will help me with my problem. // Now it didn't detect pendrive and micro sd. Somehow I formated system with twrp and now can't install any firmware because I don't have cable yet. Also somehow I managed to install a minix mx firmware because it was the only one that I couls flash, but ofcource nothing works, and now my usb ports don't work.

I am able to flash openlec but can't use it with remote ore mouse/airmouse. Any solutions? Every time I try to flash any zip file it says eithe secure check failed or this package is for p200_g2, this is a p200. Any help or this thread is dead?

I'll see if i can open this thing and run it with no cover and see if it still crashes.Ok got box open using video below was easy to open, now running it without cover on my desk.summertime here so still hot even without cover but should be better without it on trapping heat in this box looks pretty similar and they tore it down video showing teardown Here's a picture of what my friends box looks like, some heat/burn marks on the metal??? The thing stayed on longer without cover but it still froze eventually then I unplugged it, plugged it back in and it didn't last long before it froze again. I updated my mini m8s with firmware from this thread and over 3 days in, lots of Kodi, YouTube, iPlayer, Film on watching and Base mark x test, Riptide GP2 and Beach Buggy both are Amazon underground app free versions. All is appearing to work well. No USB cable used or Firmware tool other than the backup & update tool already installed with box when new. Here is my post off cnx-software of what I did, If it helps I up dated my older Mini m8s using the in built update backup app.

Trial and error revealed I did not need to rename the firmware zip file I got off freaktab.com, version 03. File needs to be on a sdcard. Internal storage needs plenty of free space. Once done firmware downloaded new update but once finished and rebooted all installed apps are wipped and no Google play! By chance found doing a factory reset from new firmware options and rebooted and Google play now installed and firmware ver 03! Then I just updated apps and installed apps from Google play. Several days in all working fine, kodi, YouTube, Filmon, iPlayer, Riptide GP2 and Beach Buggy.

Hope it helps with newer box, I used no USB cables or other firmware tools. In backup & update tool, click select and it scans for zip files, hence no need to rename file.

I about two weeks ago, and with the firmware I had, online firmware update was not enabled, and the company only released.IMG firmware for, a windows only tools that’s not well designed, and requires some procedure that vary slightly from boxes to boxes which in some cases forces to buy a male to male USB cable. I’ve now started also based on Amlogic S912 processor, online firmware update is not working either, and again I only managed to find for the box on GeekBuying. However, I’ve been informed that “USB Burning Tool” firmware can now be flashed through a micro SD card, or USB flash drive with all recent Amlogic TV boxes, so I’ve tried this method instead of R-Box Pro, and decided to report my experience in this post made by user Calc.

I’ll show instructions in Linux (which could be further streamlined), and then Windows. Linux Method After downloading and extracting the rar’ed firmware file (twice), I ended up with a single img firmware files (aml_s912_q6330-R-BOX-PRO-3gddr-mac-20161015.img). First we’ll need to have a tool to extract some files from the firmware. Create aml-upgrade-package-extract.c with the code below which and slightly modified it to parse the firmware filename. Sudo umount / dev / sdX * Now make sure no other USB devices or SD card are inserted in the TV box, and insert your bootable (micro) SD card or USB flash drive into the TV box. If your TV box is fully bricked, you have nothing to do, and the update should start straightaway, but if it is partially bricked or just working fine, you still need to press the recovery button, apply power, and release the button in order to enter recovery mode.
